The Media Communications Specialist will provide communications expertise to the Customer Relations & Communications department within Facilities & Services (F&S) through research, writing, editing, and photography. This is a part-time, academic hourly position, 20- 30 hours per week, with no benefits.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Support the Mission, Vision, Values and Guiding Principles of F&S.
  2. Work closely with the Manager of External Relations & Communications to develop content and articulate/refine the unit’s story.
  3. Gather information, write, edit, and proofread (examples include: news releases, newsletters, presentations, social media, messages to customers, fact sheets, brochures, etc.).
  4. Update existing content and create new informational materials.
  5. Photography to support communications items.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Applicants for the Media Communications Specialist position must have a bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in writing and editing. Also required are excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple projects under tight deadlines. Also required is the ability to work independently and as part of a creative team. Additionally, experience in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) and digital storytelling are preferred.
