The Engineering & Construction Services Facilities Information Resources Unit at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks an Academic Hourly to assist with maintaining the University’s space records data. Facilities Information Resources (FIR) maintains documentation and information systems related to campus infrastructure, and offers value-added custom services to enhance campus preparedness, awareness, knowledge and efficiency. The department is comprised of three units: GIS, Records, and Space Inventory. Under the supervision of the Facilities Information Management Specialist this position is responsible for assisting with daily maintenance of our space database records, CAD drawing updates and performing on-site assessments in various facilities across campus. In addition, the academic hourly will collaborate closely with staff across multiple Facilities & Services units including the University campus.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Utilize AutoCad to develop and update floor plan drawings
  • Research internal facility records to compile data for maintaining the University’s space records
  • Perform on-site field verifications
  • Document and revise space management procedures
  • Maintain active projects list for space management
  • Coordinate with facility managers, engineers and project coordinators
  • Train students and staff on space management processes and procedures

  • Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience:

  •  Experience working with Autocad
  • Experience working with Microsoft office suite (ie: excel, word, power point and visio)
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and computer systems
  • Strong customer service values and skills, creative problem solving skills
  • Excellent organization skills; ability to prioritize workload, work independently with minimum supervision, and take initiative
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and willingness to learn

  • Knowledge Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge, understanding and ability to read architectural floor plan documents

  • This is a full-time, NOT benefit eligible, Academic Hourly Position. Anticipated start date is as soon as possible following the closing date. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
