Grounds & Landscape

Even the harshest winter eventually gives way to spring and the Grounds department is ready when it does.  It takes a lot of hard work to keep campus’ 972 acres maintained and looking beautiful, but F&S’ experienced and dedicated staff does it every year.

Grounds workers keep the public open spaces on campus neatly trimmed, clean, and inviting. Grounds shears 10 miles of hedge, mows hundreds of acres of grass, prunes thousands of tress, removes garbage, etc. The campus horticulturalist and landscape architects work diligently to create inviting spaces that are also simple to maintain by stewarding available resources. It’s a balancing act, they are quite skillful at!
