Injury Management

The University of Illinois is committed to creating, promoting, and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for faculty, staff, and student employees. When workplace injuries do occur despite prevention efforts, it is important to minimize the impact and cost to the injured worker, the sponsoring department, and the university.

The university's Injury Management Plan outlines procedures and processes to help reduce the incidence and severity of injuries. The plan also includes an accident investigation protocol to identify and understand causal factors of accidents, and a process for managing injured workers so further injury does not result after a previously injured employee returns to work.

Departments are encouraged to produce a plan specific to their circumstances and needs. Contact Safety and Compliance for assistance in developing a plan.
