- NEWMARK CIVIL ENGINEERING LABORATORY – 4TH FLOOR HVAC RENOVATION
The renovation includes the installation of a new, dedicated outside air-handling unit (AHU) on the roof of the building to serve the laboratory spaces on the fourth floor. This new AHU will incorporate a heat wheel to recover energy from the room/fume hood systems and transfer it to the air supply system.
- TRANSPORTATION BUILDING – ELEVATOR & LIFE SAFETY UPGRADES
The project will include upgrades to the building’s only elevator to meet current codes and design standards. New corridor and cab controls will be provided which meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The project also involves construction of fire-protected exit enclosures. Exit signage and stair identification signage will be installed, and additional emergency battery lighting throughout paths of egress will be added.

- EVERITT LABORATORY – RENOVATION
This project is part of the Grainger Engineering Breakthroughs Initiative which is renovating the building to become the home for the Department of Bioengineering. The 126,000 GSF renewal will include the creation of 10,000 GSF of new research area and associated support space. Upgrades to the aging HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems will be made. A new roof, widows, and doors will be installed and exterior masonry, concrete, and stone work will take place. - MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING BUILDING – FIRST FLOOR WEST WING REMODEL
Approximately 6,000 GSF on the west end of the first floor will be renovated to create laboratories, accessory spaces, and offices to support the research of more than 30 graduate assistants. Work will also include some exterior will tuck-pointing and masonry restoration, as well as the partial replacement of exterior windows.

- ILLINI UNION – SOUTH BUILDING ELECTRICAL SERVICE REPLACEMENT
The 50-year-old electrical substation and breaker switches located in the Illini Union’s south building will be replaced. This system feeds all the HVAC systems in the south and north buildings, Illini Union hotel rooms, second-floor offices, retail space and the Illini rooms on the first floor, as well as the recreation room and food court on the lower level.
- NATURAL HISTORY BUILDING (NHB) – RENOVATION
This project is a comprehensive phased renovation plan and capital construction implementation for the NHB, which was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places in November 1986 as part of the Nathan C. Ricker thematic district. The building serves the School of Earth, Society, and Environment and the School of Integrative Biology, within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. - ILLINI UNION BOOKSTORE – ROOF SNOW FENCE RENOVATION
Renovations will be made to both the metal standing seam roof and flat roof. The scope of work includes the installation of a new ice guard system, replacement of soffits, replacement of the heat trace system, and the repair of damaged portions of the existing metal standing seam roof.
- HENRY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING – ENVELOPE REPAIR & HVAC UPGRADE
Work includes prioritized window replacement; masonry, stone, and concrete repair; and HVAC upgrade work that will significantly improve the building’s exterior envelope. The renovations will provide energy savings, reduced maintenance, and better thermal comfort.
HENRY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING – EXTERIOR AND VESTIBULE DOOR RESTORATION
Work includes restoring 48 exterior and vestibule doors and hardware. The west building entrance on Wright Street will be made accessible by widening one set of exterior doors and adding power operation controls to exterior and vestibule doors.
- NOYES LABORATORY RENOVATION – NANOSCALE THEORY CENTER
The interior renovation of approximately 10,600 GSF will take place on the lab’s third floor, south quadrant. Work will include large and small student work rooms, common collaborative spaces, a web/video conference room, faculty offices, research and staff assistant offices, and a break room.
- MORRILL HALL – SCHOOL OF INTEGRATED BIOLOGY (SIB) LABORATORY AND SUPPORT SPACE RENOVATION
This project includes the renovation of existing research and insectary laboratories, laboratory prep spaces, and offices to provide energy efficiency and promote co-location of faculty within SIB.
- CHEMISTRY ANNEX – ADDITION AND RENOVATION
The Chemistry Annex is receiving a complete renovation of the existing 42,466 GSF facility and construction of a new 9,600 GSF addition to the building on the southeast corner along Mathews Avenue. The renovation is a part of the Instructional Space Improvement Initiative. The addition will address life safety and accessibility as well as provide more efficient circulation patterns. - DAVENPORT HALL – SECOND FLOOR LABORATORY RENOVATION PHASE II
An additional air handling unit will be added in Lab 260 to provide air flow for four additional fume hoods being installed in the room.
- OAK STREET LIBRARY FACILITY – 3RD FLOOR REMODELING FOR COLLECTION MANAGEMENT SERVICES
This project entails building out shell space on the third floor of the Oak Street Library facility for use by collection management services. This project will create work space for approximately 16 full-time workers and 15 student workers. A new HVAC unit for the space and two single-person toilet rooms also will be added.
- SHERMAN HALL – SHOWER REPAIR - 5 STORY BUILDING
Seventy-eight existing suite-style bathroom showers are being replaced. Work includes removal of portions of the existing showers and water risers, replacement of the water riser serving the showers, construction of new showers, and finishes.
SHERMAN HALL – ELEVATOR REPLACEMENT - PHASE II
A single-cab elevator will be renovated to provide a new ADA- accessible elevator cab. A new fire-rated elevator equipment room will be constructed to house the new elevator machinery.
- ARMORY – CENTER FOR INNOVATION IN TEACHING AND LEARNING (CITL) RENOVATION
Office and classroom spaces for the CITL program will be renovated. The work includes exterior renovation work to the northeast quadrant of the building and window replacement. First floor spaces along the north perimeter of the building will be renovated to provide offices and collaborative work areas. First floor spaces along the main east corridor will be repurposed to provide innovative and flexible classrooms.
ARMORY – CLASSROOM REPAIRS PHASE II
This project will continue classroom repairs and cosmetic upgrades in heavily utilized general assignment instructional space in the Armory. It will encompass most of the west classrooms and hallways on the third and fourth floors. Work will include removing and replacing aged and deteriorated flooring, as well as conducting wall repairs and paint refinishing.
- MAIN LIBRARY ENTRY RENOVATIONS
Work includes the replacement of the north, south, and east entry doors, sidelights, and transoms.
MAIN LIBRARY – CORRIDOR AND STAIRWAY RENOVATION
Approximately 20,000 GSF of linoleum and vinyl composite tile in the main corridors of the basement through fourth floors will be replaced. Walls and ceilings in the north, east, and south stairways will be repaired and painted.

- UNDERGRADUATE LIBRARY ENTRY RENOVATIONS
Storefront door and glazing systems on both sides of the east and west plaza entries and both upper level courtyards will be replaced. At the west plaza entry, existing brick pavers will be replaced with walk-off mats.

- BEVIER HALL – INFRASTRUCTURE RENOVATION - PHASE I
During this phase of renovations, significant portions of the aging infrastructure (HVAC, electrical, and exterior envelope) of Bevier Hall will be replaced, focusing on the existing infrastructure located within the basement, first, and second floors. The work also addresses current life safety code compliance issues.
- HUFF HALL – GYM BALCONY SEATING REPLACEMENT
The east and west mezzanine levels of the gymnasium will be renovated. Existing wooden seating at both sides of the mezzanine level will be replaced. ADA compliant lifts will be installed to access both mezzanine areas, and ADA and companion seating will be added.
- SURVEYING BUILDING – RENOVATION
The complete interior and exterior of the 120-year-old Survey Building will be renovated to create a state-of-the art study center for more than 100 College of Business doctoral students. The facility will be renamed the Irwin Center for Doctoral Study in Business.
- SCOTT HALL – ROOF REPLACEMENT
The east, west, and south roof areas will be replaced on this Ikenberry Commons residence hall.
- KRANNERT ART MUSEUM – FIRST FLOOR GALLERY RENOVATION - PHASE II
The Gelvin Noel Gallery and Annex, the Light Court Gallery, and the Asian Gallery are being renovated. Work includes new reinforced walls and finishes, baseboards, and ceilings. - AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING SCIENCES BUILDING – FOOD SCIENCE AND HUMAN NUTRITION PILOT PLANT RENOVATION
Work includes the creation of high-level and medium-level, food-grade suites, the addition of an appropriate HVAC system with humidity control and filtration, and the modernization of the venting and electrical infrastructure. - HOUSING FOOD STORES – ROOF REPLACEMENT
The Housing Food Stores ballasted membrane roof system and lightning protection system are being replaced. This project will also address the roof’s drainage issues and low perimeter curb.
- MEMORIAL STADIUM – MASONRY RESTORATION & REPAIRS PHASE II
Work includes the complete general tuck-pointing of brickwork on the west and east elevations, repair of associated sealant work, removal of all flag mounting brackets, and complete repairs of column bases at Colonnades level.
- STATE FARM CENTER – RENOVATION AND ADDITION
More than 50 years after its opening on the Urbana campus, the State Farm Center renovation and addition is modernizing and revitalizing the historic structure, ensuring the home for Illini basketball remains one of the top collegiate multi-purpose facilities in the nation for generations to come. The final stage of the six-stage renovation is currently taking place. Remaining work includes the completion of the east and west lobbies, as well as restrooms, concession areas, and exterior walls on the upper level. - PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE RESIDENCE HALLS – RESTROOM RENOVATIONS PHASE II
The present multi-user restroom space on each floor of Blaisdell and Carr Halls will be converted to eight single-use restrooms within the existing footprint of the current restroom space. The renovation will provide residents with improved privacy, comfort, and accessibility.
- 805 WEST PENNSYLVANIA – RENOVATION
Renovations to this office facility, originally constructed as a fraternity house, include new landscaping, parking lot repairs, the installation of a handicap lift to provide access to the basement and first floors, security upgrades, structural repairs, air conditioning improvements, and envelope repairs.
- HORTICULTURE FIELD LABORATORY – ARCHIVES RESEARCH CENTER HVAC RENOVATION - PHASE II
The existing mechanical infrastructure will be replaced to improve the vault envelope so that conditions for the university’s collection can be more tightly maintained. The current HVAC system will be replaced and a fire protection system will be added to protect the collection and facility. Temperature and humidity control will also be addressed.
- VETERINARY TEACHING HOSPITAL – MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI) UNIT REMODELING
Approximately 1,000 GSF of space on the ground floor of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital will be remodeled to install a new 3.0 tesla larger bore animal MRI unit. Existing architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems will be modified to allow for the installation of the new machine.
Pavement reconstruction will take place from St. Mary’s Rd. to Kirby Ave. Sidewalks, including ADA sidewalk ramps, will be installed on the east side of Fourth St. ADA compliant traffic signal upgrades will be made at the intersection of Fourth St. and Kirby Ave.
A new 20,000 GSF, two-story office building addition will be constructed between the two main buildings on the CERL campus, replacing the current enclosed connecting link. The new office space will replace the AT&T space which is outside of CERL's fenced campus limits.
A new parking lot will be constructed northwest of building #3.
A new fire suppression systems, which will serve Main Building #1, Main Building #2, Main Building #3, the TESS building, and the new office building addition is being installed.
In the final phase of this project, upgrades to the central heating and building heating systems will be made to provide an energy efficient design for the life of the system.
A new sanitary sewer will be constructed from the Orchard Downs Lift Station (near Goodwin Avenue and Gerty Drive on the South Farms) to Old Fourth Street.
The Urbana & Champaign Sanitary District will construct a new sanitary sewer that will run along Old Fourth Street from St. Mary’s Road to the South First Street Pump Station.
