Campus Code Compliance & Fire Safety

Campus Code Compliance & Fire Safety (CCC&FS) manages the university's fire and life safety programs and the existing building and fire code compliance functions. The associate director is designated as the Campus Authority having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for the application of the university's life safety, fire and construction codes. Reported fires are always made visible in the annual fire safety report, and all work done by the department complies with facilities standards.

CCC&FS administers:

  • the Intergovernmental Agreement for Fire Protection Services, a campus fire safety program
  • the fire extinguisher maintenance program
  • the campus inspection and testing program for fixed fire protection systems

  • CCC&FS also provides plan review services for campus construction projects to ensure accessibility and safety guidelines are met.

    Request Fire Extinguisher Training

CCC&FS (217-244-715) is responsible for hands-on fire extinguisher training. This training is available for students and staff, who will put the information they have learned through the online fire extinguisher training course into action with live flame. Groups need to be of at least 15 people to hold a training session. If you do not have the minimum participants for your own training, there are open sessions held once a semester for smaller groups to attend. For more information or to schedule a training session, please contact CCC&FS
