2025 Summer Construction Update

Many facility and infrastructure improvement projects will occur at the U. of I. this summer.

The Urbana campus will be the site of more than 50 active construction projects this summer. Upgrades to facilities and infrastructure are vital to meeting the university’s strategic goals and include classroom and laboratory modernizations, roof replacements, accessibility improvements, street repairs, life-safety advancements, restroom enhancements, and utilities system revitalization in support of energy production, distribution, and conservation efforts.
This year’s work includes the start of the Doris Kelley Christopher Illinois Extension Center, Japan House Addition – Ogura-Sato Annex, and Archives and Special Collections. A complete list of projects, along with a corresponding map, is available on the F&S website.
Other notable projects include the following:
- Illini Union – Roof Replacement
- Illini Hall Replacement and Altgeld Hall Renovation Project
- Gregory Hall – Ground Level Remodel
- Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology – Laboratory Remodels
- Krannert Art Museum – Life Safety Upgrades
