F&S and the Champaign and Urbana Fire Departments offer training during the 2025 fall semester that introduces participants to the basic elements of fire extinguisher usage. There is an applied portion of the course, including a simulator demonstration of the proper method of using an extinguisher to extinguish a fire. Each attendee will get to extinguish a digitally simulated fire. Registration is open to U of I students and staff. Registration is open to the first 35 U. of I. students and employees. Walk-ins will also be considered based on occupancy of the space.

This is a university-approved event. Contact the F&S Code Compliance & Fire Safety department fandscodefire@illinois.edu for questions, registration assistance, or to request an accommodation.
