Dear Colleagues,
I’m delighted to announce that Jon Hasselbring has been named the director of Project Delivery at Facilities & Services, effective Monday, March 30. In this new role, Jon will oversee all aspects of Capital Projects, Construction Services, and Contracts Administration in a division that brings together large- and small-scale construction project delivery activities within our Planning, Design & Construction leadership structure.
Jon’s responsibilities will include expanding process efficiencies and project management improvements through data-driven decision making, enhancing communication with campus partners, and expediting project delivery through capital processes, various contractor programs, and in-house Crafts & Trades.
Jon has a proven record of success at F&S, most recently serving as the interim director of Capital Projects for the past seven months. Over that period, he has led a team executing over 100 active projects, exceeding $1B in total volume. This portfolio includes progress on such high-profile projects as the Illini Hall Replacement and Altgeld Hall Renovation, Archives and Special Collections Building, and Doris Kelley Christopher Illinois Extension Center, to name a few.
At F&S, Jon has also served as the associate director of Capital Projects, Project Management, after starting as a senior project manager in 2019. Before joining the university, he was the director of planning and operations for the Champaign County Forest Preserve District and an associate architect with Linden Group Architects in Orland Park.
Jon holds a bachelor’s degree in architectural studies and a master’s in architecture from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is a licensed architect in Illinois and a LEED® Accredited Professional.
Jon is an outstanding teammate, dedicated collaborator, and leader. His detailed and thoughtful approach to his work has always prioritized building strong relationships with others to deliver exceptional results. He is committed to the continuous growth and development of his team and the delivery of cost effective and timely projects for Illinois.
Please join me in congratulating Jon on this much-deserved appointment!
