Weather permitting, crews will begin work on the Lincoln Avenue Complete Streets Demonstration project on Monday, June 15, at 7:00 a.m. This project will include the removal and replacement of painted pavement markings on Lincoln Avenue between Killarney Street and Fairview Avenue, and will require intermittent lane shifts during construction. Two-way traffic and access to all local properties will be maintained at all times.
Reconfiguration to Four Lanes
This work will reconfigure the roadway striping from three to four vehicular travel lanes. This demonstration, a conversion back to four lanes, and the associated traffic assessment will help inform the future design of Lincoln Avenue. Motorists and riders are encouraged to provide feedback to the City of Urbana about the adjustment.
This project is funded through the Federal Highway Administration’s Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant program and is intended to provide safety improvements for all roadway users. Questions may be directed to Justin Swinford justin.swinford@urbanail.gov, 217-384-2342.
