Boneyard Creek is a 3.3-mile long tributary of the Salt Fork Vermilion River that runs through parts of Champaign, Urbana, and campus. Each spring, volunteers come together to clean up this important local waterway. This year, Boneyard Creek Community Day (BCCD) is Saturday, April 18 (rain date: May 2). F&S is a partner in this cleanup day. It’s a fun way to give back to the community, and it’s satisfying to see trash and invasive plants removed in real time. If you’d like to volunteer for this annual effort, please sign up by April 17 at http://www.boneyardcreek.org/.

What should you expect on April 18?
Volunteers should check in at Scott Park (207 E. Springfield Ave., Champaign). Participants who don’t already have a BCCD T-shirt can obtain one. Campus and Champaign cleanup activities begin at 9 a.m. at Scott Park. If volunteers want to work at other community locations, please chose the location during online registration. At noon, everyone returns to Scott Park for a free lunch, music, and educational displays. Visit the Boneyard Creek link (above) for more information.
Do I need anything special to participate?
Please wear closed-toe shoes or boots that can get dirty and/or wet. Don’t forget to bring a refillable water bottle! Organizers will provide gloves and tools for you to use.
