The campus community celebrated history in 2025 when brickmasons removed a 100-year-old time capsule from inside the walls of Huff Hall.

Then, in 2026, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) and the College of Applied Health Sciences (AHS) worked with F&S to make history: a new time capsule was placed in the same spot to be opened in 2126.

Eric Quinley, F&S brickmason believes the work will remain the same a century from now. “I’d still guess there’s going to be a person out there with a trowel and jointer and tuck pointer and all that stuff. For the most part, I just like to think in the future that like they did 100 years ago, they’ll still lay brick by brick.”

Items in the capsule included newspapers, books, guides and pamphlets—old and new—coins, hearing aids, clothing, a brick, and reminders of both 1924 and the modern era totaling 46 items in all. A sign made by the painters indicates the site, reading “Huff Hall Time Capsule, Fall 2026, Celebrating a Century at the Intersection of Scholarship and Sports.”
