Air Purifier Service Support Update

Adjustments to service support for these devices will begin March 1.

As a part of its comprehensive health and safety response to the COVID-19 pandemic, F&S deployed over 200 portable HEPA air purifiers in non-mechanically ventilated spaces. Additional purifiers were also installed in mechanically ventilated spaces in select buildings as needed. Units were positioned in these areas as a proactive measure to improve indoor air quality and to help minimize the potential transmission of the virus during in-person learning, research, and engagement activities.

Effective March 1, the unit will discontinue F&S-supported service of this equipment, including all inspections and filter replacements. Before removing any air purifiers, F&S team members will notify building contacts about the work schedule and will be available to address any questions related to the halt of the devices.

Any departments wanting to continue the use of the air purifiers after this retirement date should contact the Building Maintenance & Grounds (BMG) Planning Group about a transfer of responsibility for specific units. BMG can assist with establishing preventive maintenance plans for continued operation.

For questions, contact Interim Director of Building Maintenance & Grounds Steve Bainbridge, 217-265-4976.
