Altgeld Hall Exterior Renovation Work – Projected Spring Schedule
Apr 03, 2023 | 8:26 am
Altgeld Hall exterior renovation work is expanding.
Altgeld Hall exterior renovation work is expanding from initial asbestos removal and masonry exploratory activities to tuckpointing in specific locations and structural reconstruction of the chimes’ player room and bell tower. See the projected spring schedule below.
Access to building entrances and adjacent sidewalks will be maintained throughout the project, as tasks will occur in isolated areas of the facility. The upcoming demolition and fabrication aspects are expected to increase overall construction activities, including brief periods of elevated noise levels. In fenced-off outside locations, crews are following Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines for dust and debris protection during ongoing stone replacement and cleaning work.
Because the exterior renovations will continue throughout the semester, efforts will remain focused on limiting potential inconveniences to students, faculty, and staff, especially around important dates and events, such as final exam periods.
For questions about the renovation work, contact math-facilities@illinois.edu. Mathematics and LAS staff are coordinating with the project team and will share periodic updates as the work progresses. Please be advised that task timelines are subject to change based on work conditions and developing priorities.
