The event will be held at noon on Friday, April 24, and include light refreshments. The makeup date in case of inclement weather is May 1.

The Arbor Day celebration is part of the Tree Campus Higher Education®  initiative, which F&S leads in collaboration with campus partners. Since 2015, the U. of I. has been honored with that designation for its continued commitment to effective urban forest management. Learn more about these efforts, and get links to various plans and resources, including the Campus Tree Care Plan.

The designation requires meeting five core standards of the Arbor Day Foundation for sustainable campus forestry: establishing a tree advisory committee, creating a campus tree care plan, dedicating annual expenditures to a campus tree program, sponsoring student service-learning projects, and establishing an Arbor Day observance, such as this event.
