Celebrate Bike Month!

Sep 04, 2024 | 11:13 am

Join us at Bike to Work Day and Light the Night.

Light the Night - free bike light giveaway on Thursday, September 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Light the Night

The 17th annual Light the Night is Thursday, September 19, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Alma Mater Plaza, Hallene Gateway, and the Ikenberry Commons Quad. You MUST bring your bike to get a light set.

Approximately 1,100 bike light sets will be available. In case of severe weather, the event will be rescheduled for September 24.

Volunteers are needed for the event. No bike maintenance experience is necessary—individuals will be quickly trained to install the light sets.

Remember, a front light along with a rear reflector/light is required by Illinois law when riding at night. If your bike does not presently have lights, please take this opportunity to become compliant and enhance your visibility and safety in the evening hours.

Bike to Work Day

Bike to Work Day - Wednesday, September 18 from 7 to 10 a.m.

Welcome stations featuring drinks and snacks will be available in 16 Champaign-Urbana locations on Bike to Work Day. First-time riders are encouraged to join returning participants and learn more about the local bike community.

You must preregister and bring your bicycle to get this year’s shirt.

The exact locations of campus stops can be viewed on the official Bike to Work map. The event will move to Friday, September 20, should inclement weather arise.
