In May, the university and bike-sharing partner Veo launched a pilot program to explore using Cosmo-e bikes on campus through Monday, August 7. With the pilot ending soon, your feedback and ridership data will help determine guidelines for motorized class two e-bikes on university streets and bicycle lanes during the fall semester.
Please respond to the short questionnaire at https://go.fs.illinois.edu/bikeshare. The form is open to everyone until next Monday, whether you are a rider or someone who has just observed bike-sharing activities. The responses and comments will be reviewed over the next several weeks.
As a part of the trial, the motorized class two e-bikes are allowed to operate on university streets and dedicated bicycle lanes. Rental bikes were previously restricted to pedaling only in these areas. Requirements for the pilot also consisted of strict geofencing restrictions for the class two e-bikes in core campus areas to protect pedestrian safety by properly balancing active transportation modes.
