All Gender Restrooms

All Gender Restroom Signage

Since 2014, the university has prioritized incorporating All Gender restrooms into facility renovations. Recently, this process was formalized in the campus Facilities Standards that require “all new buildings and those undergoing additions or major renovation shall provide an All Gender restroom.” As a part of initial efforts on campus to increase the number of All Gender restrooms and enhance the visibility of these locations, F&S performed a comprehensive campus bathroom inventory and fixture analysis to identify restrooms that were new single-use, locking-capable restrooms and could be immediately signed.

The Chancellor’s and Provost’s Committee on LGBTQ Concerns  officially recommended using an “All Gender Restroom” sign in February 2016 to identify all applicable restrooms in university facilities.
