I-Pass

All Car Pool vehicles are equipped with I-Pass transponders, and customers may use I-Pass-affiliated tollways at no additional cost.

Monthly Fuel Surcharge

In December 2022, TAS added a fuel surcharge to Car Pool rentals because of the increased cost of unleaded gasoline. Each month, TAS will evaluate market conditions and adjust the surcharge as necessary, including reducing the initial amount should prices return to drop or return to traditional levels. Because of a recent average purchase price decrease, the surcharge was set to 1 cent per-mile starting in March. The adjustment is necessary to help TAS maintain the regular fuel, maintenance, and service operations for Car Pool vehicles.

• Charges consist of either the mileage rate or the duration minimum, whichever is greater
• Vehicles returned late will accrue a $25 per day late-return fee in addition to normal use charges.
• Rates may change subject to monthly review of gasoline pricing.

Vehicles

Sustainable Hybrids

• Compact sedans include the Toyota Prius, Ford C-Max, and Chevrolet Volt. Chevy Volts will travel up to 40 miles on electricity and more than 300 miles on a full gas tank.
• The Ford Fusion is available for customers needing a mid-size sedan.

Work Trucks

• Call for available options.

COMPACT SEDAN: Recommended for trips with 1-2 people.

COMPACT SUVs: SUVs comfortably seat 5 people or the seats may be removed/folded out of the way to suit a combination of people and cargo.

SEDAN: Can accommodate up to five individuals. 

SUVs: 2WD and 4WD SUVs seat 8 people, or the seats may be removed/folded out of the way to suit a combination of people and cargo.

MID-SIZE VANS: Models have the ability for seats to be folded down or removed entirely to offer space for a combination of people and cargo.

15-SEAT VAN: Drivers must complete an orientation. Call 217-333-3910 for more information.

• Must have a valid driver’s license and sign all applicable forms.

• For official university use only. Personal use is prohibited.

• The university requires the use of commercially insured vehicles primarily for use when non-university individuals are being transported.

• Report all accidents resulting in vehicle damage within 24 hours.
