As the end of the year nears, all colleges, departments, and units are encouraged to collaborate with Building Services supervisory staff to identify specific cleaning priorities for the winter break. Beginning these discussions as soon as possible helps establish building-level priorities for cleaning and disinfection tasks. Doing so can also identify additional support opportunities where needed.

Please remember that schedules for most building service workers will also be adjusted over the winter break period per the campus holiday schedule and locked statuses for specific facilities. Consult the Daily Event Summaries and Building Hours page for facility scheduling updates.

Holiday Parties and Trash Pickup

Departments are asked to coordinate with their building service workers (BSWs) regarding any precleaning or trash pickup for holiday events or gatherings. This is especially important for activities scheduled in the evening or on the weekends that may create the need for more timely support. Please remember to assist BSWs by utilizing conference room and shared space receptacles to help expedite and ensure complete trash removal.

Restroom Dispenser Modernization Initiative – Upcoming Buildings

Starting in January, Building Services will continue upgrading toilet paper, hand towel, and soap dispensers in selected campus facilities. A list of the latest buildings that will receive improvements is available on the F&S website, along with examples and details about the new products. Participating vendors completed a walkthrough for this set of buildings in October to get an accurate count of the dispensers. They also took measurements to ensure the specific designs fit appropriately in existing locations to minimize the potential for follow-up repairs. The work is expected to be completed before the start of the spring semester, with almost 600 dispensers to be replaced.
