Restroom and Laboratory Dispenser Upgrades

Starting Monday, January 5, 2026, new toilet paper, hand towel, and soap dispensers will be installed in the restrooms and laboratories of 40 additional university facilities. The process is expected to be completed before the start of the spring semester for the buildings listed below.

The dispensers in this set (examples shown on the F&S website) are more durable and are often utilized in high-traffic areas, such as airports, conference centers, stadiums, and arenas. Participating vendors have performed walkthroughs of the buildings to get an accurate count of the dispensers in each facility. They also took measurements to ensure the specific designs fit appropriately in existing locations, minimizing the potential for follow-up repairs.

The work, which will include installing over 1,200 dispensers in approximately 600 spaces, exemplifies Building Services’ commitment to enhancing sustainability in all aspects of custodial operations. The units will help reduce unintended product waste, utilize green cleaning supplies, and provide greater service consistency and efficiency – eliminating the need to stock multiple non-standardized products for refill. Also, all previous metal and plastic dispenser parts that can be recycled will be diverted from the landfill at the Waste Transfer Station as part of zero waste efforts on the Urbana campus.
